This notice explains what personal data we collect when you register with or use Turbomachinery Professional, why we collect it, who we share it with and the rights you have. We collect only what we need to run a moderated technical forum, and we do not sell your personal data.

  1. Who is responsible for your data

For any question about this notice or your personal data, please write to hello@turbomachinery.pro.

  2. The data we collect

Registration and profile: your first, middle and last name, email address, password, country, company (optional), professional profile link, website (optional), discipline, equipment and industry experience, the month and year you started working in turbomachinery, whether you are working or retired (and your year of retirement), the years of experience calculated from these, and the description of your experience. Your password is stored only in encrypted (hashed) form by our authentication provider.

Guidelines acceptance: the date and version of the member guidelines you read and accepted.

Community content: the topics, replies, answer ratings, reports and messages you post, your profile photo if you add one, and your account settings.

Technical data: your IP address and basic browser information, which our hosting and security providers record in their logs to deliver the website and protect it from abuse.

  3. Why we use your data

To provide the service (performance of our agreement with you): to create and manage your account, review your profile, show your profile and contributions to other members, and send you the emails needed to run your account, such as address confirmation.

To keep the community safe and reliable (our legitimate interests): to moderate content, verify that members are who they say they are, prevent abuse and enforce the member guidelines.

With your consent: for optional features you choose to turn on, such as messages from recruiters or appearing in member search. You can change these choices in your account settings at any time.

To meet legal obligations: where the law requires us to keep or disclose information.

  4. Who we share it with

Other members and visitors can see the information you choose to publish in your public profile and your forum contributions. Recruiters see only what your profile settings allow.

We use trusted service providers who process data on our behalf and under our instructions: Supabase (database and authentication), Render (website hosting), Cloudflare (content delivery and security) and Resend (email delivery). We do not sell or rent your personal data and we do not share it for advertising.

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our members.

  5. International transfers

Lightbulb Waves LLC is based in the United States, and your data is stored and processed in the United States. Where data of members in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland is transferred to the United States, we rely on the safeguards offered by our service providers, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

  6. How long we keep it

We keep your account data while your account is active. If you close your account, or if a registration is not approved, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we must keep it longer to meet a legal obligation.

If an account is removed for breaching the member guidelines, we keep a minimal record (name and email address) to enforce the suspension.

Forum contributions may remain visible after an account is closed, shown without your name.

  7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access your personal data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, receive a copy in a portable format and withdraw any consent you have given. To use these rights, please write to hello@turbomachinery.pro. We will reply within one month.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority, for example the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) in the United Kingdom.

  8. Cookies and browser storage

We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. The website stores a small amount of information in your browser, which is needed to keep you signed in and to remember your choices. You can clear it at any time in your browser settings.
