Why this forum

Turbomachinery is not only alignment.

Successful machinery projects depend on dozens of decisions made long before the first roll: constructability, preservation, receipt inspection, readiness, turnover and vendor coordination. That knowledge lives with experienced people on site — and is usually lost when the project closes.

Turbomachinery Professional gives that knowledge a permanent, professional home. It is a technical discussion forum on turbomachinery, between turbomachinery professionals: practitioners ask and answer questions, compare approaches and build a shared technical reference, with every post referring to an applicable standard.

  • Not a social network, a vendor marketplace or a recruitment site
  • Is a moderated technical forum organised by equipment and discipline, with reviewed member profiles and engineering tools

Industries

A reference for the industries that run on rotating equipment.

Members list the equipment they know and the industries they work in, so colleagues can find the right people to discuss a specific machine.

Data centres

On-site power with aeroderivative and industrial gas turbines, gas engines and generators.

LNG

Refrigeration compressor trains, gas and steam turbine drivers, turboexpanders and cryogenic pumps.

Process industries

Oil and gas processing, refining and petrochemicals: compressors, steam turbines and critical pumps.

Power generation

Heavy-duty gas turbines, steam turbines and generators in simple and combined-cycle plants, plus hydro, wind and ORC heat-recovery units.

Questions

Frequently asked.

Is it really free for professionals?

Yes. Profiles, the discussion forums, events and the private profile tools are free. The platform is funded by advertising and by paid recruiter accounts.

Can recruiters join?

Yes, with a paid recruiter account. Prices are shown after registration and validation. Recruiters must identify themselves as recruiters and confirm a work email address. Their profiles carry a Recruiter label and they can contact members only by private message. Members choose whether to accept recruiter messages and whether to reply. See the recruiter plan and terms.

Is Turbomachinery Professional involved in recruitment?

No. Turbomachinery Professional is operated by Lightbulb Waves LLC and is not an employment agency, recruiter, employer or job board. It is independent of all recruiters, does not take part in any recruitment or hiring process, and is not a party to any contact, offer or agreement between recruiters and members. To the extent permitted by law, it is not responsible for the outcome. The recruiter subscription pays for platform access only, not for introductions or placements. It does not publish job vacancies or check recruiters beyond their work email address.

How are members verified?

Applications are reviewed against professional background and recent machinery experience. Profiles show discipline, equipment specialties, industries and experience level — never private contact details.

What about OEM proprietary or client-confidential information?

Members must not share proprietary drawings, procedures or confidential project data. Discussions focus on methods, experience and lessons learned. Moderators remove content that breaches this rule.

Why must every post cite a standard?

Every topic and reply refers to at least one applicable standard or recommended practice, such as API RP 686 or ISO 20816-1. Where no standard applies, the member selects N/A and explains the technical basis. This keeps discussions technical and on subject, and helps moderators check unsupported claims. Posts are moderated, and off-topic or unsupported content is removed. See the forum rules.

What language is used in the forums?

International English is the official language of the platform, discussions and all published material, so practitioners from every region can take part.

How can my company advertise on Turbomachinery Professional?

Companies subscribe to an advertising plan. Ads appear on the front page and in the Discussion Forums, never on member pages. Ads are always labelled and advertisers never receive member personal data.

What are the advertising terms?

Ads appear in the Discussion Forums and on the front page, never on member pages. Prices are shown in the advertiser portal after you register. The minimum term is 3 months, invoiced quarterly in advance; annual prepaid plans save 15%. Plans renew automatically and can be cancelled with 30 days’ notice before renewal. Every ad is reviewed before publishing. See the advertising plans page for placements and full terms.
